Ensigns

Has anyone purchased a new ensign (red duster) lately?
Have you noticed the change in shape which is much more rectangular.
I asked my local chandlrey why this was as i wanted a replacement for mine, I was told it was to meet EU standards which are more rectangular than ours.
Is this some back door change because we objected to the EU stars on it?
Why must we have this boring 'all look the same' approach to everything.
I refused to buy one and am looking for the traditional shape we have always had.

While you're waiting for a reply from Graham Wright, have a look here
Flags of the world. I've not pointed you to a specific page 'cos I learnt a lot by browsing through all the guff.

Not being an expert flags for flying at sea are rectangular 2:3 because they extend better than square ones do, also if you go to the expense of a sewn one then that dispalys even better, after all if you're going to have one it might as well be seen?

If you have a hack through the FOTW site do post back here with better quality infomation. Please don't be drawn inton the "Blue" debate, but if you want to be different join a club which has its own ensign, at least you'll be helping their funds...
