Anyhoo, up next day(Sat) feeling crap and goes wandering round Alghero. Nice little walled town with a large leisure harbour. No superyachts but lots of nice saily things, a few Rivas & the odd older Ferretti. After a walk aroud to get the alcohol out of the system, began to feel somewhat human again & start hitting the Cafe Lungo's. Zing.....it don't take to many of those to bring one to life. Wander back to Englander later in the afternoon and find's Colin up to his elbows in Moules or rather Cozze. He has decided to go all Italian tonight and decides we are going to have Spaghetti con Cozze a' la Englander. Very nice it was too. We even had some soft shelled Oysters. Not half bad. Of course we had to have the obligatory 4 or 5 bottles of vino collapso too. Colin's brother and wife Jill joined us also. Good for stories.
For those of you who do not know of Colin's brother, then a brief history will not go amiss.
Dr. Warren Scott(Physics), his wife Jill and 2 yr old daughter, left Southwold harbour aboard Swn-Y-Mor, a 1935 Gaff rigged twin screwed(in tunnels) converted Watson lifeboat, some 20 odd years ago. Bound for warmer climes i.e. Spain. Sometime later they decided to head across the pond. This later developed into an amazing round the world epic covering some 84,000 Nm. The boat is absolutely gorgeous and like a lovely old fishermans cottage inside. The engines are immaculate, and IMHO, their's will be a story worth reading. We only learned a miniscule portion of what they must have seen & done, look forwrd to reading all about it in the , hopefully, not too distant future.
Englander itself is an extremely comfortable vessel, particularly suited to livaboard as Colin does. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Colin's crew, who was no doubt off earning a highly earned rest. Either that or he jumped ship after the last lot of visiting forumites, thinking this lot would be the same.
Anyhow, a well cooked meal, good wine and excellent conversation brought an end to day, and part, 2.
