Several years back, CB had an article about installing a small diesel (?) into a Folkboat. A quite clever install I recall.
But my copy of that issue that has been borrowed never to be returned, or been lost in a house move.
Can anyone recall which issue it was?

Thanks,

Depends on which FB you have a wooden one or a plastic international one? Both have lots of space for a small engin but it might upset the balence??

The IF has a lot more room than a traditional FB, which engine are you thinking of?? There are some very light compact diesels around, though a two stroke dolphines hard to beat!

I cant find the dolphine site in my bookmarks?? But then im siting outside and its getting damp and chilly!! Try this

http://gofree.indigo.ie/~vire7/ thats the vire petrolmotor!

It's not so much the type of engine than the way it was done. The article described a way (IIRC) the builder had constructed a cradle to support the engine (single cyl with concerns about vibration effects on hull) in what was a relatively lightly constructed wooden boat. It's that method I am interested in reviewing.
BTW, the dolphin url is http://www.dolphinengines.co.uk/.

OK Im sure someone perhaps brendon will have the answer when the boat show finaly ends!!

Clinker isent lightly built!Stronger than Cavel! Ive only seen posts about takeing engins OUT! there was a FB site about an old FB older than mine (1947) he took the engin out as well but might have some ideas. Ask at the FB club they have a forum

Ill be back in a day or two as im heading back to France. When i get there ill look up any links i have

Just wait in the mean time for the boat show to end!!!

I wrote a piece about fitting a 1GM10 in a Vertue some years back, which might help. Something like "A new engine for an old girl". Went into prop sizes, gear boxes, etc, etc, and fitting
