Engine hours

Volvo vodia tool will give you hours reading , sometimes they will come back if they are warm for a length of time . a common problem and they can be fixed rather than new rev counter .
 
Sounds all good to me. Black smoke will be unburnt fuel prior to turbos coming in and white smoke expected on start up.

II did it myself and it Works perfect for my twin KAD 300 installation.
 
There´s a another LCD that fit direct. It´s a little more expensive but needs less work
I get them from the company who sells VDO instruments
Don´t know if anyone sells them i UK
I sell them in Sweden

Hi Rickard, can you give some more details ?
- what size and do you need to "adjust" the Tacho to make it fit
- how do you attach the "ribbon cable - is it soldered ?
- how much is "more expensive" ?
- what is the part number / supplier - so we can see if they are available in the UK ?

These are the original ones and fit right in
No need to change anything on the tacho. No soldering and the ribbon cable plugs right in
As the original LCD this also comes with tape on the back that attaches it to the tacho

Hi Rikard,

Please can you clarify. The old (before EDC) hour meters counted the hours in the Tacho display and therefore it was sometimes possible to revive the display to show the correct hours.

I believe the EDC engines count the meters in the ECU. Do they therefore count the meters in the ECU and in the Tacho?

Can you confirm that the displays that you sell will also count the hours in the display or do they take the hours directly from the ECU? If you but your new displays then do you have to connect them to a 12v supply to advance the hours manually to match the ECU?

Pete,

looking at Rickard's picture and the same one on his website, then this is purely the LCD display and it's attached ribbon cable. If so - then there is no electronics involved and no impact on the meter readings. If the total hours are stored in the Tacho then they will be displayed, if they aren't then it won't.

It's going to take one of us to make the leap of faith and order one / install it ..... I'm very tempted
