I don't know what Paul's power arrangements are, but in JAC08 he was running his engine occasionally to recharge batteries. If I remember the detail correctly he got sea water into his tank and hove to for several (many) hours to sort it. I have no idea if his current slowing is related, but am sure he will get it sorted, whatever the issue is. So pleased for him.

Actually, I am pleased for them both.

After such an endeavour it would be marvellous if they crossed the line together.

But I am still rooting for Paul, of course!

Of course he now has a different boat. In 2008 he had a Jaguar 27[?]. Now a SHE 31. I am also unfamiliar with his mode of producing battery power.

From the discussion on the Jester Forum about relative positions, it would appear that Independence is a good day ahead of Ella Trout. It would be good if Roger won as the oldest competitor at 77 on his second attempt coming 3rd in 2010 with damage to his keel on rocks as he entered Narangansett Bay in a fog. But my sentimental favourite is Paul. Getting over the Nantucket Shoals and then past Martha's Vineyard calls for some careful pilotage usually in a sleep deprived state with ships in the Great Ship Chanel and fishing boats on the various banks and close to land.

And Scallywag is still in the race as far as I know.
