Eliminate Plastic Smell and Taste From New Tank

As per the title really. Any recommendations of how to reduce or eliminate theplastic taste and smell of a new water tank. I have not installed it yet and wondered what best to use apart from a good rinse out. Bicarb, detergent, Milton Sterilizer? Any suggestions appreciated.

Instant coffee will clear taste and smell, rinse out, done.

If it's designed for use as a potable water tank then a quick rinse with water and some fairy would be all I'd do. It shouldn't have a strong smell or leach anything into water if it's made out of proper plastic, if it does then send it back. When I bought my new water jerry cans I didn't even use soap just a wash out with plain water.

What sort of plastic? Don't recall My new Tek Tank nor in a new Bavaria having any taste but Plastimo flexible do and sorted that with Milton.

Ah, cool. It is a Tek Tank. I just thought that there is never an easier time to get rid of any plastic taste and smell, now is the time.
I will probably simply give it a thorough rinse with fresh water and leave it at that.

Reminds me of the Tesco Kettle I bought for my Holiday Home few years back. That gave water a plastic taste ... too ages to get rid of it ... tried even Vinegar after all the usual remedies failed ....

Now double rinsed with fresh water and a sheet of dense foam purchased for it to sit on. Only hope that I got my measurements correct and that it will fit down the companionway and round into the cabin where it will sit under a double berth midships.

Would a rinse with bicarbonate soda work?

It takes the smell out of some things.
