electric meters for marina use.

Is it worth buying one for your boat rather than paying the marina for yearly use of electrics ? I keep a dehumidifier on for the winter and battery charger on at all times,plus fridge when we are there.
Appreciate any views or experience of using them, before I spend £130 on one.

buy one off eBay if you have the patience to leave a Search running. Half price !

Well worth having some form of permanent power, but the marina may want to calibrate / check the meter first. They should not resell the electricity above normal rates, and even when living on board 5 days out of 7, I had a monthly bill of less than 15 / month, and a dry, warm boat.

Its definitely worth buying your own, even at £130. The 2m cable variety are a bit cheaper. I tried waiting for ebay, they are quite rare.
We run dehumid and frost heater, its quite reasonable.

Hi,
I'm looking for an electric meter (Metermaid, or similar) for use in a marina. So far the best price I can find is £127 at yacht bits. I've tried Googling and looking at the caravan sites, but they don't seem to be listed.
Before I shell out the cash, anyone got a link to a cheaper source?

You are unlikely to find meters on caravan equipment sites as almost all caravan sites dont charge extra for an electric hook up, or it is a fixed price per day
