Obviously they want to go sideways, so they've sailed the keel out of the water. They even got someone peering over wall to make sure it's there, ready to be stepped on in the event of a capsize.
Now that sounds scary , the first time I went sailing I thought it would be like that but it was far more relaxed and although I took her into a semi broach where it felt like we were going over we didn't actually come close , apparently . Not sure I'd want to do that but I suppose there is an element of excitement , or is it fear ? . Do they just do that in competitions or what ?
Prolly just screwed up by a gust. Doesn't look like anyone has the main sheet or traveller in hand ready to dump. And the rudder will just be on 'surface/dive' duty when that far heeled. Incidentally, the main luff looks appallingly slack. The odd thing is that the boats in background seem to have very comfortable breeze.
I noticed the boats in the background too but they seem to be on a different heading , maybe a gust hit them or maybe they are just on a wrong tack and the others got it right

Looks like the boats in the background are actually on the same tack.
Looks like a strange setup, to me at least. The main looks like it is fixed to the car and the car is adjusted from the cockpit. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
got the specs on now and they still look like they're on different , at least the one showing through the rigging does , the genoa ( spelling ) seems to be on the left of the pic
That's a good way to wash the deck.
The guy in the brown trousers appears to be deserting.
You would think someone could find time to put more luff tension on though.
Good idea. I wonder if they are trying it the wrong side to judge what effect it would have if the mechanism breaks? No-one looks that concerned really.
If it had broken and was flopping about you'd have thought they would have eased the main at least.
I would have thought someone would have brought lifejackets up by now.
also the sails look too slack to pull the boat over, and the helm is dead straight...there is more to this than meets the eye...Is the boat just straightening up after a hard turn to starbd?
