Right the war enters its 2 year.
Still not working
Changed glow plug
Power coming through
Fuel coming through

Even with engine reviing hard and power plugged in .. the eber goes tick tick tick speeds up starts to warm and cuts out every friggin time .. what do I do next. Paying an engineer is not an option as it has become personal

I know you say the fuel is coming through but the symptoms as outlined scream fuel filter

enough fuel gets through to the othe side to fire it but it quickly goes into debt as the demand exceeds supply.

You say it starts to warm....if so what colour is the exhaust smoke, if it is very white I suspect the glowpin not getting hot enough for full ignition. Unsure as to your model but the later models have a guaze screen around the glowpin and this should be changed at the same time the glowpin is changed as it tends to carbon up and therefore the fuel does not atomise correctly onto the hot glow pin!!!

Also check the flame out sensor.

There are two sensors on the ebers - one for overheat and one for flame out. During startup cycle the flame out sensor is "ignored" but after the startup cycle is complete the control circuitry checks the burner has actually lit. If this sensor is duff the control circuitry thinks there is no flame (even if the burner has actually lit) and shuts the heater down.

Almost certainly a faulty fuel pump or blocked filter/fuel line. I had the same symptoms on my Webasto, drove me nuts for 18 months. Occasionally the heater would fire up, ramp up the blower towards full heat and then shut down, it only worked properly about 80% of start up attempts and over a year gradually got worse until it wouldn't start at all
Changing the fuel pump fixed the problem
Pumps are available on eBay for about £30

is the gauze screen clear? - ever found a screen broke on removal & some is still left behind?

checked the resistance of the two sensors?

I had the sam thing with a brand new one, got on the the MD of eberwotsit who got on to the dealer and they replaced it. They said it was an installation problem but how come the new one worked without a problem, (they installed it)? Awful heater when they donn't work.
If yours has the flashing diagnostocs or codes then there is an american erberrrrrspassi site that publishes the engineers manual. that should get you a little closer to the problem.
Best fix is to buy a webasto!

If the temp sensor fails to show the black-box that the heater has begun to heat up.... the box will shut down the system.

sensors an exorbitant £40+ each - but easyish to check resistance before shelling out.

Would agree with the fuel starvation diagnostics, we had 3 years of intermittent crappy service from eber until we had the fuel line re-routed. Since then it has been as good as eber gets ie poor.

Get yourself a Newport Dickinson diesel stove, they work....

Black smoke seems the key - unburned fuel therefore glowplug not reaching sufficient temperature to get it all on fire.
Mine is perfect by the way. After all the stick you've given me I think I'm beginning to believe that a God exists

Yeah, but T-shirts in saloon when it's -4 outside? pah, not with an eber.

[/ QUOTE ]Sorry to disagree with you but I run an Eberspacher D1L on my 34'er and even in the middle of winter (-xx°C outside) a "T" shirt is more than enough - we have to jam the hatch open a bit to keep the temp down.
As others have said the main problems with these type of heaters is installation and maintenance. If they are properly installed and maintained they give years of reliable service - oops mine will probably throw a wobbler now. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
