Well, we finally moved from East to West. Now in West Wales, Milford Haven to be precise. Looking forward to new adventures with deeper water under the keel. I believe Full Circle came this way but from once being a prolific poster now seems to have disappeared.
Have fun with the new normal.

I am very perturbed by the thinking about the so called new normal. What people are saying is that all the regulations and restrictions will be our lives from here on and it will last for the permanent future.

That should not be the case. We are in a temporary pandemic. It should end at some reasonable point when a vaccine is developed or we achieve herd immunity.

Welcome to West Wales, you have chosen a great sailing area, Nelson was very enthusiastic about the Haven, (though not sure if part of that didn't have something to do with Lady Hamilton)
For a bit of useless information, the town of Milford has links with the Nantucket Whaling community, it Is partly built on the 'American grid system and you can find street names such as Starbucks.

Enjoy exploring your new cruising ground.
We too traded the East Coast for other shores (after 14 years).

Picture taken last Saturday.
Note how the water is a lovely shade of 'not brown'.

I could always tell when we had returned to the East Coast from 'elsewhere' when any waves that had made it on to the side decks left sediment behind.

Usual cut off point was North of the Black Deep :)

Full Circle is now in North Wales at the Western end of the Menai Straights.

Enjoy your sailing in Wales. My son used to have a boat a bit further up the haven. He still finds east coast depths a bit scary.

Last Uk job was based out of there. Bothered in the marina y the then newish shops and flats.

The local bar wasn't bad, food OK. The locals were a bit wary at first but when hey realized we were friendly and putting money into local businesses they because much more friendly.

No only complain of sorts is unless it's been modified the lock was big and took about 20-30 to fill at lower end of the tide.

Weird!

The advantage of the East Coast water being just slightly thinner mud than the land, is that you can't see quite how shallow it is.

Did you have to change your echo sounder to one that reads over 5m?

Funnily enough, I was at Wrabness the other week and went for a dip, had a mask and snorkel on.... and could see the bottom in 5m of water!!!
Whenever I head south, the novelty of see-through water always gets me when I stop at Ramsgate :)

Thanks for your good wishes. I am above the Cleddau bridge on a swinging mooring. No marina soft life for me. Being able to come and go whatever the state of the tide is very liberating.
I don't expect to get much further than Dale in what remains of this season, but hope the pandemic falls away to allow us all a better future.
Best wishes George

Thanks for your recommendation for Lea Coleman. Boat arrived undamaged with minimum fuss. Recommended

Hi George

Glad Lea did the job for you, it's fascinating watching him use the remote control of his Hi-Ab.
If you need to use a boatyard to lift out, work on or store over Winter you are close to East Llanion boatyard.
They have good lifting facilities, there is an upholsterer there and a useful guy (Ryan RSJ Marine) who is reliable and competitive on price if you need work done.
All the best and good sailing.

John

I seem to remember the vernacular was Bovril Boats. Anyone remember the Erwood out of Colchester? Ironic that the gentrified waterfront smells like a sewer at low tide.
