Eagle Boat Windows???

I used them about 10 years ago and they were very good.

They have i believed changed hands and principals recently so no new info on quality.

It all depends what is the matter with your existing windows they cant cure frame corrosion so If your frames are badley corroded it may be better to spend the money on new windows using old for paterns, not a massive cost differential.

Also look at Seaglaze for new units.

When mine were removed I stuck hardboard sheet over the holes and stuck down with 2 inch pvc tape it was watertight and worked a treat.

It was a pig to refit the refurbished windows though.

I used Philip Muller in Chandlers Ford. Excellent job at an excellent price with the advantage you can drop off and pickup in person on your way to the Hamble. He seems to do it as a spare time / sideline business. Tel. 02380 260296

Ah, 'blind' navigation - best of luck with the YM exam!

They are very good in my experience.
Drawback is you're down south and they are in Preston, IIRC. Postage cost was eyewatering. I'd look somewhere local next time.

Anybody used 'em? I need to refurb a hatch, and their name is in the frame.

Good or bad experiences appreciated. PM if libelous!

I'd say, No worries,Ken. Only a husband and wife outfit, but specialise in boat windows so dependant on success to make a living.

I spoke with the chap at two differenent boat shows and found him knowledgeable and enthusiastic. However to refurbish a hatch requires a 2-3wk turnaround, and I didnt want a big hole in my foredeck for that long.

I took measurements and photos, and he cut the perspex to a known template, and shipped it to me with sealant strip and black gooey stuff.
I havent fitted it yet due to the weather.

Only downside was two or three day response to emails, especially about now when they will be at LIBS.

Best of luck, whatever you choose.

I should qualify that I only used him to replace the perspex or whatever the material is. He may do more than that, but you will have to ask him on the number I gave above.

Serious Professional Failure and Breach of Trust

I purchased two hatches for my Moody 29 (1980) from Eagle Boat Windows, trusting in their vast experience with English boats, including the Moody model.

From the very beginning, I offered to provide the exact measurements for the two openings, which are different sizes (a larger one for the foredeck and a smaller one for the salon). This offer was ignored. The seller assured me that the hatches they had would fit my boat.

Knowing that the Moody 29 has two different types of hatches, I relied on this professional judgment. However, I received two hatches of the same size, which do not fit the Moody 29 model.

I am currently in negotiations to resolve this professional failure on their part. It is incredibly frustrating, as I spent my monthly salary to purchase these hatches, and now my project is stalled due to an error that could have been easily avoided.

I cannot recommend Eagle Boat Windows unless they resolve this issue fairly and promptly.

Recently used them for a small window and last year they did the large ones on my Westerly Konsort Duo - no leaks! For the job they did I thought good value for money. I took a day out to take them there form the south coast. The small was cheap to post.

Tell us how you get on with resolving this.

I've found them to be very good. They replaced the perspex in our large forehatch. When it started leaking 18 months later, they re-did it for free.
