I was amused/appalled by a photo illustrating the effect of the heatwave on river levels which showed the Orwell near Levington at LW. !!
Careless journalism at best or just plain stupidity/ignorance?
I have written my first ever letter to the editor to point out the error.

Reminds me of an occasion back in the mid nineties when I was living in Leigh-on-Sea & there was a summer drought & hosepipe-ban. We had some visitors from Bristol & I took them out to lunch at a seafront café in Westcliff.
The tide was out of course & one of my guests told me she had no idea the drought was so bad & asked was my boat stuck like all of the ones in front of us…

I'm afraid journalistic fails are not new. Back in the dark ages, the local rag reported academic successes. When I was fortunate to gain a place at Cambridge, they (correctly) reported that I intended to study petrology. They then helpfully told their readers that petrology was the study of petroleum! You'd have thought that 5 minutes with a dictionary would have been a good idea for a journalist faced with a word he didn't know!
