Just purchased Princess 35 decided to wash seat covers. stripes have now mixed into one, washed on low heat not very practical material for boat . How much to re-cover ? Original princess material . Should they be machine washed or dry cleaned.

Re: Dead!!

I re-upholstered the whole boat about four years ago. Basically that was a U shaped saloon settee and U shaped seating around the lower dinette. I found a little unholstery contractor in Greenock (nearest decent sized town to KIP) and he gave me (the boss actually) a selection of materials to choose from. The whole thing cost me £300 + I personally purchased £40 worth of stainless steel staples for the man as they were not his usual line. The covers look as good as new today and he also threw in a few scatter cushion in the same material.

At the same time I replaced all the carpets and used an excellent carpet fitter who arranged for all the loose carpets to be bound, etc. That cost circa £600.

So, for under £1000 I had a completely renewed interior and it paid me back handsomely the other week when the boat was sold for a very good price.

Its worth having a look at the local tradesmen.

Re: Dead!!

absolutely right, go inland for this, not to anyone boaty. We gave a carpet fitter a er fit when he realised it was a boat but all worked out jolly well.
