Messing about on the boat at the weekend in preparation for antifouling. Cleaned drive shafts and noticed that they had not been previously antifouled. What is the best practice - to antifoul or not?

Secondly, I detected some movement in the cutlass bearings, around 1 to 1.5mm of play. Is this an acceptable amount of movement, or should they be replaced.

Thanks

I have never anti fouled shafts, p brackets or rudders. Just scrape the crud off when lifted.

Sounds to me as though you need to replace the cutlass bearings. Don't leave too long or the shafts will wear in same area. That will be much more expensive!!
