Dremel 3000 Bargain

Extremely useful tool around boats, although mine packed up just after the warranty had expired. Amazon replaced it anyways. In hindsight, it's just a motor with a speed control and chuck on the front and the cheap clones do work just as well.

However for the accessories the cheap clones do not work as well, so do yourself a favor, skip the cheap ones (especially the 50-tools-for a tenner boxes) and buy the Dremel originals (and not from Amazon - half the time you get counterfeit ones - try Beesleys). They'll work better and last longer. Trust me, I've picked hundreds of scratchy small wires out of my jacket after using a bag full of cheap wirebrushes to clean up some boat parts. Not fun and the one Dremel brush I had lasted as long as the whole bag of cheap ones.

Reduced to £19.93 at Homebase. I'm collecting mine this morning!

Correction: Comes with a case and 15 accessories.

That's about half the normal price for the same Dremel tool in the U.S., yet we are currently paying .35 GBP for a liter of petrol. What an odd world we live in.

I have bought a couple of things from the USA recently and prices do vary. As a very rough guide I calculate that the price in pounds is the price in dollars. It does help if you have someone over there who can send things to you.
I found a use for the Dremel already, cutting a rusted bolt off the lamp on the outside of my house so that I could get inside and change the bulb. Result!

Thanks for the heads up. Could be what I need to treat the rust spots on my steel boat. I notice you can get stainless wire brushes for them.

Most of my purchases from the U.K. have been books. Most of the noteworthy sailing heroes were Brits when I was a lad. Many of the early books are still available in the U.K. and scarce in the U.S.. I've found that the Royal Mail surface delivery is economical and the 3 to 4 month shipping time just makes the arrival that much more of a pleasure.
Items which I purchased, such as a Taylor's paraffin heater, were only available in the U.K. In the 60's. I recall that package arriving covered in stamps and seals. Quite exotic by today's standards. The specialized yachting industry was rather small at that time and many of the best fittings were manufactured and only available in the U.K..

I see the Dremel on Amason which comes with a flexible drive is £79 pounds, I brought in France similar tool with accessories and flexible drive for £15 three years ago, still working fine, two speed, two different sized chucks, a bargain.
