Put a deposit on my first boat today.Excited and nervous at the same time but looking forward to our first of many seasons of boating ahead.
So far the broker has been excellent in brokering the deal and giving me as much info as i needed. They will also be taking us out for as long as we want until we will be confident in handling her and the locks.

See yawl out there:)

Not yet I think I will keep it moored for the first year and then save up for the trailer so then i can get to take it to the coast.
Also I wont have to pay the very costly marina fees so it will hopefully pay for its self in a year. But a Thames marina first until we get used to handling her.

Oh dear, oh dear!! Welcome to the world of the impoverished!!
Good Luck.

they make a perfect first boat IMO, it was also my 1st boat (but V8 petrol) many good memories.

they dont come any harder to handle than single engine no bowthruster esp as a newbie but go find a long empty pontoon and take a mate / many fenders. practice mooring wind on, wind off etc. start with easy conditions no or little tide / wind to give you confidence. remember even without other engine aids using warps can help you on tricky situations like wind pinning you to pontoon.

the regal forum is very good for info (even though they banned me for showing off my Fairline ;) ) ...

Well done russ, hopefully I will be along soon for the service.

Regards

Paul.
Unfortunately Paul its my post about the hull blisters and prop corrosion so there will not be a purchase on this particular boat. Although the broker is trying to persuade me to still buy it. Just need my deposit back before making an offer on one I have seen of the same make and model.
Will keep you posted on a service date for this one.
