Let's reboot this discussion

Who' has a Dolphin 31?

Let's see if we can trace all 55 of them.
I've only ever managed to get to about 20

Currently I think there are about 3 on the market, U.K., Ireland and Australia between £12500-£26000

It'll be great to hear from owners and also to one day arrange a get together afloat.

I look forward to your replies

I don't have one, but sailed in company with one from Weymouth on several hops westwards, a long time ago; after that I always thought them great boats, they deserved more success - good luck with your database - I just looked up my old photo's but unfortunately the boat name doesn't show ( memory isn't up to this one ) and the main was stowed so no number; they had a pair of Westies onboard if that helps !

Hi I’m away to Liverpool to look at one on Saturday
Heard great things
But a little nervous as no survey so buying a little blind
Seems well looked after but osmosis scares me
Have these been plagued by this

I have seen quite a few different Dolphin 31s this year including the prototype 1977 boatshow hull no.1.
It’s very difficult to try and gather a database of these great little solid vessels.
If you have a Dolphin 31, know anybody who does or have sailed on one please do get in contact with me.
Gathering a flotilla meet one day would be fun!

Hi there is one near fleetwood at the Blackpool & Fleetwood sailing club at Skipool out on the Hard it belongs to a friend and is for sale it has been converted from tiller to wheel, its name has slipped my mind but if it comes back I will let you know. It used to be in Pool Harbour about 15 years ago in Lillyput sailing club.

I sailed on Zipper in 1986, she was owned by a Sailing School in Dartmouth. Red hull. I can remember a fantastic night sailing back from Salcomb to Dartmouth in a fresh breeze and being sent to the foredeck to drop Genoa and hoist a working jib in a lumpy sea......very wet leg!

I have a Builders catalogue for the Dolphin 31 from the late 70's which I have up(down?)loaded to Dropbox, and which I would like to post here.
I have previously attached Dropbox photos to posts ok, but I seem to be doing something wrong now.
Here is a link to the first page - for some reason the bit at the end is not 'dl=0' - I think I am supposed to change it to 'raw=1' but nothing is happening.

I can't seem to bring up an embedded version, but the link above seems to work ok re bringing up the first page, so here are the remaining five pages - click on them and they should come up hopefully.

I had previously posted a copy of this catalogue (in Photobucket) in Kernow's link to the old thread, but P-bucket now watermarks and obscures prints unless you pay them a sub. :(

Hey guys
Who’s looking forward to the day we can sail our Dolphin 31s again?!
I’m desperate to get to work on mine, but the boatyard is shut ?
Minimal jobs to do include, draining diesel tank, fitting service hatch and deep clean. Polish hull, antifoul, replace forward hatch, restick cockpit floor matting.............

Friend of mine - sadly passed away - had a Dolphin 31 at Tudor Sailing Club, Langstone. Never did find out what happened to the boat after ....

Nice boat. Brian towed me from Bucklers Hard back to Tudor when the outboard failed on my Snap 23 .....

Hey guys

Thanks for the replies.

In the Falmouth area we also have Zerlina and Solent Dolphin (the reason I bought my yacht).

I wonder how many of the original 55 built are still going strong..........I know they’ve spread far and wide from their build factory in Hamble over the past 43 years.

What’s the farthest anybody has taken their Dolphin 31?
I have grand plans to head south some day!
