I taught a Russian gentleman his day skipper a while back, he was going to keep the boat on a man made lake just out side Moscow. The obstructions shown on the charts for that lake were church steeple's I was told.
I learnt a lot that week, apart from the fact that they like bending to breaking point any rules and are happy to pay to do so.

Well two thing that i found very interesting where,
He had a direct 12v feed put into the cockpit of this sports cruiser.
this was for
1, using a small electric pump to pump diesel into his tanks as he said it was normally a barrel on the shore that they got diesel from.
2. a second electric bilge pump with a 30 ft electric feed to it, and a long pipe to go to the water fill point, with a basic filter on it. to literally just drop it over the side of the boat in the fresh water lakes and fill the water takes, OH and a whole load of purifying tablets.

The other thing was a shore connection that had a standard house plug on one end, as he would tie up near a house at night and ask if he could hook up to there power, there are not many marinas in Russia.
I found this all very interesting, have you come across any funnies when talking to other boats.

I thought boats were feminine, do you want to rethink your response?
