Dog on a boat in the Med. Advice please?

I bet the dog hates your sister in law

She will after she finds out she's going on holiday with us instead of going to the sister in law. 3 days in a car with us and then cooped up on a boat for 3 weeks instead of spending all that time sniffing sister in law's dog's backside

If sister in law is fit , leave wife and dog home and take sis away

Not in a million years. She drives me nuts and apart from that, she's a yottie:eek:

If however wondering around with a big brown fluffy poodle in tow in SoF is going to attract the attention of the local mademoiselles, that might soften my attitude a bit:)

I'd bet on you getting lots of attention, but not necessarily from the mademoiselles.
?

As for the rest of your problems... Kennels or go on your own?

Another question. We have been told that changing a dog's food may change its toilet habits. Normally our dog eats a mixture of dry biscuits and tinned dog meat. Ideally we would just load up the car with her normal food and drive to France but I guess transporting dog food into the EU now is going to get us arrested at the border. Is that correct? Any advice on good quality dog food available in France that isnt going to result in our dog pooing uncontrollably over my teak deck?

We fed our cats on Science Diet Pet food in the UK and the same in France, available in the local vets.

Pay for a dog sitter. Surely it has to be better than all this nonsense?

Dogs expect to be treated better in the South of France. This is my dog, right this minute

He’s at the outdoor seating area of McDonalds waiting for his triple beef bacon without the cheese, mustard, sauce, onion or pickle (and he won’t get the bread)
Treat your dog better

McDonalds? TREAT YOUR DOG BETTER!o_O

Earlier today his mother cooked chicken breast from the Bio Cooperative for him.
Dogs expect their dads to spoil them
You call McDonald's spoiling? We need to get you recalibrated A.S.A.P! It's a dire emergency....in fact, you might be too far gone. ;)

Baked beans.

If only. The boss has said no. Just booked the Eurotunnel tickets and to add insult to my injury they charge an extra £22 in either direction for the dog. Quite why I dont know given that the dog sits in the car all the way. On the other hand for £22 I'll encourage her to drop a big smelly one on the train deck

McDonalds? Thats what Mr Bouba eats all the time despite the fact he's become a French citizen now. His dog is just waiting for a few crumbs:rolleyes:

That method of charging reminds me of a friend who has just come back from an Ibiza cruise.
San Antonio charged him double for use of a buoy - double because he was a catamaran - how ridiculous is that!!

Leave the wife and the dog with the dog sitter. I can't see any solution other than an anonymous tip to Border Control that your wife is using the dog as a drug mule.

I have just returned from the Vet's to get two animal export licenses.
JFW.
Previously a dog passport took about 20 minutes to create by a vet, cost £80 and could be used numerous times over three years.

The new animal export license to take your dog abroad is only valid for one return journey. It is 11 pages long. It took the vet 40 minutes per export license.

As we have two dogs we need two licenses - just in case one should not return (he is 14 and looking a bit frail these days).
You can put up to 5 animals on an export license but they ALL have to come back or none come back!

For this new benefit the charge is £150-00

each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am looking at £600 a year just to take my dogs to and from Spain twice a year.

The cost per year has increased by a factor of 13!

Curiously if you are a UK expat resident in EU land you can still use an EU animal passport - same as before.

Just a slight digression from this thread which as a reluctant "dog dad" has had me in stitches, (although I do have enormous empathy with you @Deleted User) @Bouba is that a Brittany?

This is ours on Loch Etive 2019-08-20 11.08.29 (Medium).jpg

Cheers
