She will after she finds out she's going on holiday with us instead of going to the sister in law. 3 days in a car with us and then cooped up on a boat for 3 weeks instead of spending all that time sniffing sister in law's dog's backside

If sister in law is fit , leave wife and dog home and take sis away

Another question. We have been told that changing a dog's food may change its toilet habits. Normally our dog eats a mixture of dry biscuits and tinned dog meat. Ideally we would just load up the car with her normal food and drive to France but I guess transporting dog food into the EU now is going to get us arrested at the border. Is that correct? Any advice on good quality dog food available in France that isnt going to result in our dog pooing uncontrollably over my teak deck?

We fed our cats on Science Diet Pet food in the UK and the same in France, available in the local vets.

That method of charging reminds me of a friend who has just come back from an Ibiza cruise.
San Antonio charged him double for use of a buoy - double because he was a catamaran - how ridiculous is that!!

Leave the wife and the dog with the dog sitter. I can't see any solution other than an anonymous tip to Border Control that your wife is using the dog as a drug mule.

I have just returned from the Vet's to get two animal export licenses.
JFW.
Previously a dog passport took about 20 minutes to create by a vet, cost £80 and could be used numerous times over three years.

The new animal export license to take your dog abroad is only valid for one return journey. It is 11 pages long. It took the vet 40 minutes per export license.

As we have two dogs we need two licenses - just in case one should not return (he is 14 and looking a bit frail these days).
You can put up to 5 animals on an export license but they ALL have to come back or none come back!

For this new benefit the charge is £150-00




each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am looking at £600 a year just to take my dogs to and from Spain twice a year.

The cost per year has increased by a factor of 13!

Curiously if you are a UK expat resident in EU land you can still use an EU animal passport - same as before.
