A NASA Clipper Navtex was installed on my boat when I bought it, but it's mostly hard to read. Does anyone still use and rely on them or are they outdated now?
We've got a Nasa receiver which stubbornly keeps working. I can't say I look at it much, but it's been useful for the occasional coarse weather warning when away from phone signals. Of course by the time we got the warning, we were already in the middle of it
I've had to recently explain it to a potential buyer and realized it's all a bit arcane with maps and stations you have to look up in an actual printed book (made of paper, a substance derived from trees), compared to animated graphics on a phone app that everyone is used to these days.
