dockrell 22

hi,
im thinking about buying a fin keel dockrell22, could any body tell me anything about them as im struggling to find any information.
also ive recently aquired a cruising chute but i am not sure how to use them does any one know where i can get info.

I am not quite sure if you mean lifting Keel, Dockrell Yachts did not make a fixed fin keel version as far as I am aware. I have owned a Dockrell 22 for the last 18 years, if the one you are thinking of buying has a Motor well and toilet compartment inside the cabin to starboard it probably have a ballast stub and centre plate. And be post 1980, earlier models had a 1000lb swing keel that comes partly up into the cabin, and is lifted by a winch just outside the cabin, a lot of this version were home completed and the interior layouts vary.
The boat is very stable, but slow, you will need that cruising shoot! At least mine is, but I am about 4" down on the waterline with all the bits I have added.

yep you described it to a tee, its the fixed keel built in 82, i have gone ahead and bought it and am very pleased i also found it quite fast but theres not much gear on board tho

I have the manufacturers sales litrature, PBO did a boat test in 1980 I have a copy I could fax or post, (Or am I doing PBO reprint service out of work!).
