Is it possible to get away without winterising the outboard on my Merry Fisher 625, Ideally I want to keep it in the water over winter to use on those calm crisp clear days . It's based on the Orwell estuary so I guess the water it's floating in shouldn't freeze and the engine has only recently had a full service. Could I get away with flushing with fresh water putting my full cover on it and then going down every other week or so to give it a run. Thx

I left my 895 in the water for the same reasons, I don’t think it’s necessary to winterise outboards that are in use

Be fine. Just make sure it isn’t tilted up with water able to sit in the exhaust cavity. Be extremely unlucky and a very rare event, but it’s been known for trapped water in there to freeze and mess things up. Either cover it or leave it down and submerged I’d think. Otherwise you’re good. No water stays in the block with it not running.
