It is not expensive to have your prop professionally refurbished.

You can certainly file the the edges to fair them Note that you need to file the edges of the opposite blade in a similar fashion so that the prop is symetrical in both shape and weight.
I sawed and filed an inch off the diameter of a prop to increase the maximum revs available. It was wholly successful.

If you do file the edges do make sure it remain balanced. Use a wooden dowel and spin the prop and check it does not always stop with the same blade down. If you do not do this you will cause a vibration that will increase the wear on the shaft or bearings.

Used to often file out stone nicks in metal aircraft props, mainly so as not to encourage cracks. Fairing the work to follow the profile of the aerofoil.

Brunton file the trailing edge to change the pitch. I have no idea if it affects the Op's prop doing that though. Probably not

Yes, file away symmetrically ...........BUT do not make the leading or trailing edges sharp, to a point, as this promotes cavitation..

I often clip my outboard prop ... wood stick as measuring marker, hammer and file soon sorts the snags out.
The stick ? Placed against hub .. measure blade length and with a wide stick - draw the blade end onto the stick ... you can then match other blades.
