Hi

Anyone had any luck replacing a Danbouy pole. Mine is ali and now past its best (bent).

The floats look okay, so looking for another 3M length tube as the floats look okay.

Any thoughts on what to use for a nee pole? Need to check the dia to fit in the floats.

I found myself rummaging for copper pipe and plastic conduit that are around 20mm or so…

I used a piece of 20mm electrical conduit with a piece if 15mm O/D aluminium tube inside to make it more rigid

Been like that for a good 10 years flag in top and lead weight to make the pole stand up when floating

Fishing rod blanks used to be quite cheap. Do not have to be carbon. Sea fishing ones must be available.. One could buy a 2 piece for storage purposes but it has to be quickly available for deployment
Plastic overflow & water pipe might not really be suitable, due to the whiplash effect of the lead weight on the bottom when it is thrown.

Thanks all.

i like the idea of 20mm black conduit. Will need stiffening.

Will need to measure the ID of the floats and weight i have.

Found one today in my garage attic. I'd made from a fishing rod blank more than 30 years ago, it worked well and was very cheap. The top section was missing and I've just cut it up for disposal.

The rod was pushed through a large GRP fishing float and a lump of lead screwed on the bottom. I remember the rod was very, very cheap. I did a quick search and could only find more expensive up-market ones. Not looking good as a cheap option today.
