Following on from my previous diesel tank thread we are still trying to decide whether to go for a plastic or steel tank. One of the deciding factors is likely to be whether we can get anything to fit straight off the shelf, as this would dramatically reduce the overall cost. We can fit the 61l Vetus tank, but their connection kits all have elbow filler fittings and we really need a straight one (the tank is under the cockpit sole, with the filler directly above, and very little space (perhaps 15cm) between the two).

Does anyone know where we could source an off the shelf connection kit like this:

http://www.vetus-shop.com/vetus-fuel-tank-connection-kita-8mm-p-1795.html

but with a straight filler? Alternatively, has anyone found a straight filler that can be fitted in place of the elbow supplied on the above?

TIA!

Also (and at risk of drifting my own thread!!), can anyone please confirm whether the basic Vetus fuel and holding tanks are actually the same tanks? I'm looking at the FTANK61, but the local chandlers is doing a good deal on the 61l waste version which has the same dimensions! TIA again!

Could you fit a Vetus tank plate somewhere other than directly below your filler, and have a 90degree bend below the filler to connect to the Vetus fitting?

The diesel version is white; the waste version is black. They may be the same type of plastic, but again maybe not. You'd need to ask Vetus, whose reply you can probably anticipate.

We could, but we'd like the option of having a manual dip stick/gauge, and I guess that having a 90degree bend immediately below the filler might increase the chances of spillage when filling? That is our plan B currently.

Excellent - thank you for clarifying that. Marinestore are probably using a generic piccy! We would want white so as to, hopefully, be able to see the level.
