I'm no expert, but it looks appropriate to me. I might get some!

Cheaper than some of the alternatives, quite a few of which have stated max temperature limits lower a little lower than the potential output temperatures specified by heater manufacturers. At 12mm thickness it might well be worth putting additional layers on in at least some - e.g. exposed to cold or heat sensitive - places.

Would want to wear gloves etc. to avoid problems with the glass fibres.

By my calculations (I might be wrong!) you'd need almost 300mm to go round 90mm ducting once, or almost 200mm to go round 60mm ducting once. Hence assuming putting on only a single layer, 1m (the width sold) at a time, you could potentially cover 3m of 90mm ducting, or 5m of 60mm ducting, with a metre length.

I'm surprised your output is lukewarm. I've about 9ft of as yet uninsulated ducting, part of which passes through open air in the cockpit, before my main outlet, and once the heater is warmed up it would be painfully hot to have your foot immediately in front of the outlet for more than a few moments.

I think the reason is there is 3 outputs in the boat so thinking this is worth doing, you can buy different thickness of this stuff I think, again as for log burners heat won't be an issue, my log burner chimney get way over 200c

Had a search and couldn't find thread mentioning this-

Aluminium Coated Insulation - Flue Wrap 1M x12mm -per Metre

Is there a reason not to use this? It is rated way higher (550c) than anything else I've seen mentioned previously, and as it is for log burners also cheap to do if cut in half length ways and join.

My output is lukewarm so want to insulate the Ducting (about 12ft)
I used Armaflex HT Solar Pipe Insulation 2m Outdoor High Temperature UV Resistant high temperature 76mm bore, for 60mm ducting, 13mm wall thickness. Works well. About £18 per metre. No fibreglass to escape. Withstands 150 degrees which is within the Eberspacher spec and durable (mine is still perfect after 8 years.

This is definitely the stuff we plan to use - but I might try the non high-temp Armaflex (105 C) further along the ducting run. Our boat is 42’ and we’re fitting two heaters, so the cost adds up. Maybe do the first 5m of both runs in HT (that’d take it past the always-open vent) and the rest in regular, which is still fire resistant. Could save a few hundred quid that way.

Do please report back and let us know how you get on with whatever you decide to use.
