Diesel fuel additive?

Our plant engineers swear by

Works for me and I use white diesel.

I used to use Soltron, about 15 years ago. However, it became apparent that there were a number of different people marketing what they claimed to be Soltron, all in different packs with different labels. There was a lot of posting on here about it at the time, as I recall. Coincidentally, despite religiously adding Soltron every time I refilled the tank, I suffered another bout of diesel bug, so switched to Marine 16 and Grotamar, used alternately.

If you're interested in the Soltron saga, take a look at http://solpower.info/menu-e/notice.html and http://soltron-gtr.com/?page_id=12

I use biocide every fill up. You'll not find that at Halfords. Wynn's, STP et al are fine for helping to clean out the pumps and injectors but for marine use where you don't use a full tank or DERV a week, you really need an occasional dose of Marine 16 or Soltron to clean up any water in the tank and help spurs the dreaded Bug.

Marine 16 is what I use and I also add a teaspoon (5 cl) to every 5 litres when I fill up the spare cans.

It depends what you hope to achieve with an additive. Fight diesel bug or clean up injectors and pump/lines?
The bug treatment is rarely found outside marine chandleries. For engine clean up Forte works well. Works very well at smoke reduction in normally aspirated road vehicles (read old mercedes sprinters!) and since not many leisure diesels on boats have turbos, the same applies. Similar lubricity and cetane value to diesel, but with an "italian tune-up" works wonders. My experience anyway :p

Wynn's do a bio one for cars.
