Stuff in chandlers is expensive. Has it any additional merit over the stuff in car places?
Any recommendations on any?

Tesco were selling off the diesel STP stuff a few weeks ago at £2 a bottle so I got one for each engine.
It's total snake oil, of course, but at least it's cheap snake oil!

+ 1 for Marine 16.
Where are you when you're needed Alant?
I use biocide every fill up. You'll not find that at Halfords.
He'll be busy reading the Daily Mail...
Well Force 4 didn't have any soltron in Lymngton.
Marine 16 is what I use and I also add a teaspoon (5 cl) to every 5 litres when I fill up the spare cans.
It depends what you hope to achieve with an additive. Fight diesel bug or clean up injectors and pump/lines?
The bug treatment is rarely found outside marine chandleries. For engine clean up Forte works well. Works very well at smoke reduction in normally aspirated road vehicles (read old mercedes sprinters!) and since not many leisure diesels on boats have turbos, the same applies. Similar lubricity and cetane value to diesel, but with an "italian tune-up" works wonders. My experience anyway![]()
