My replies were based on experiences of using one (although I have not owned one). I don't have opinions on them, only experiences of using them. Was that not clear from my post?
Having to start the engine to start the stove when night sailing because the nav lights had brought down the battery voltage was an experience, not an opinion.

specially when you have 990 ton of acid above you !! The trunking to do down was miniscule as well .... needed to be a midget to do it ....
But we did it and she sailed on for a number more years ....

The "new" boat has a Wallas diesel, 0.6 amp on startup according to the blurb... I'll let you know when we've used it....
