Having just past thru La Coruna in the last 10 days, I thought I might pass on that the fuel bay is closed and has been so for a few weeks awaiting repairs! We had enough on board so did not need to go to Sada. Personally, I found the facilities at Coruna poor. If you are planning to fuel up? Go to Sada in the first place!

Sorry, Can't give advice on Sada, as we did not call in there! We did meet a motor vessel in Camaret enroute from Gibraltar, who had warned us of the problem and had berthd in Sada. I might add Coruna has NO decent Chandlers at all!!
Apparently Sada has?

I don't think there is a problem leaving the boat for a while in Sada. BTW, Sada is in the Ria de Betanzos and on the N-side of that Ria is situated Ares, where there is also a marina, which is cheaper than Sada.
I don't agree that there is no decent chandler in Coruna, maybe you did not look in the proper places. I often buy things at Pombo on Linares Rivas and am very satisfied with them. One of the girls there speaks very good english. There are a number of chandlers in Sada and there is also a big supermarket, Carefour, just outside of the marina, going towards the village.
In Ares the yard, Hercules, sells chandler stuff and is in general willing to order for you as well. I am very satisfied with them and find their prices reasonable. There is no fuel available in the marina in Ares.

As this is in the middle of Corruna? Not sure, even with help of Marina pers, why we found no Chandlers?

Coruña has one chandler, near the marina, which does not have a lot of things, but there are a lot of "effectos navales", shops that sell to the fishermen. Most of these are on or near Linares Rivas, which is the continuation of the street along the marina, going south. I guess it is about ten muntes walking from the marina in town, the Darsena. On the same street is a "tornillaria", which is a shop, where they sell screws, bolts, nuts etc. Prices there are just a fraction of what one pays in chandlers. Remember, that stainless steel is normally cheap in Spain, although it may be difficult to get 316, 304 is no problem.

Thanks wagenaar, this is all useful stuff - I am hoping to be there around this time next week.

on a seperate point, is there any websites which show ACTUAL wind conditions in your area, or better still anywhere else in Spain and Portugal ?

I can study the forecasts until the cows come home, but none of them will give me what it happening at the time.

We spent the winter 05-06 in the Darsena and really enjoyed it, Marina in Pombo was a great help as were the rest there, the staff at the Darsena the same, we used all the places you mention. We had a lot of work done there, new windows, covers, upholstry, new mattress (visco elastic), hatches reglazed, radar fitted, everything we wanted could be found. We are heading back that way, slowly, in a week and could well end up in Coruna again for next winter, a great town. We may see each other along the way I hope. Bill.

I found the facilities at Coruna poor

Whilst I agree that the fuelling facilities at A Coruna are a PITA for larger vessels (when they're working!) I'm very surprised at your general criticism of the facilities. There are several good chandlers at the western-most part of the harbour, and almost the whole range of yacht support facilities are available - though difficult to find.

Probably the best way to track down any services you need is to ask at the club house next to the old fuelling point. There's usually someone around who can speak enough English. Sailmakers, stainless fabrication, refrigeration, diesel engineers - all are available and very good value. Though I did have difficulty finding a B & G knowledgeable person, so that ended up as DIY with phone help from UK.

As for the town, it's a delightful place . . .
