I found our Centaur wass perfect for our family, good sturdy contraction, easy to sail plenty of head room, bilge keels so less of a worry with depths and not bad performance - a Centaur is just in your range but be prepared to spend £8k upwards for a good one and look for modifications that make it even easier to sail especially an upgraded engine as this is the bst part of £5k if it still has the old one.
