David Scott-Cowper \"Polar Bound\"

I accidentally found that he's off again around the world ditching the lifeboat for a custom built boat. BBC Tyne have a story on their web site but the last entry is for May 23rd, and it says he will remain parked in the Falklands until the Autumn.

Does he have a web site? Does anyone have any new detail? For a long distance single hander he seems to generate very little news.

He ditched the lifeboat a very long time ago! He may regret it!

I've got his book about the NW Passage. It's not a very good book but interesting none the less. It's odd that after reading it you get no closer idea of the man than when you started.

The "at sea" stuff I found much more interesting than the NW passage part.

I'd like to ask him why he swapped 2 x Gardner 4LW for 1 x Gardner 8LXB. You'd think at least a wing engine for a trip like that without sails, (well I would anyway). Also, according the web site he's got all this fuel in plastic cans, just like he had on the lifeboat. In the book the problems about transferring fuel at sea loomed large for him, one would have imagined that building new he'd have incorporated all the bunker space he needed.

No perhaps not. I give him credit for one thing in particular, how to have a job, a boat, and a family and manage to dodge off for a year or so without (A) getting a divorce or (B) going bankrupt.

OK so I'm making assumptions. When he did the NW passage he was a Solicitor, so he probably still is.
