Daffodils

There was an item on the TV news this lunchtime about daffodils in full bloom in Suffolk, has anybody else got daffodils out yet? Mine usually show their heads about now, but there is nothing yet so far this year

No Daffs, but there's a few pansies about.

No daffs, but my garden has a lot of shade and doesn't warm early. My only plant in full bloom is my zauschneria, which does well but I only bought to keep my zantedeschia company in the z department.

Some daffs do flower very early, such as February Gold. There is even a rhododendron called Christmas Cheer.

I had to mow a couple of days ago - the first time I've ever mowed in December. And wandering around the meadow yesterday, I noticed some little yellow flowers, must investigate what they are.

Winter aconites are about the first yellow flowers, I think, but I associate them with woodlands.

Don't think they're aconites, look rather like cowslips. Here a very poor phonecam shot, they're about 6cm high.

It looks like a primrose with rather long stems. Maybe it's in part shade and got a bit etiolated. Sometimes they hybridise with polyanthus, so you get funny shapes and colours.
