Cutting steel strip

Cut it with a 1mm blade on an angle grinder.
I have just cut some 10mm x 70mm bar with that method.

No I am not a "Desk Engineer". Too many years to mention in engineering.

If you have such a thing handy.
I could cut it with a hacksaw in a minute or two.
Unless one is going to make a habit of it, no real need to go tool shopping.

I tend to imagine that a boat / Yacht owner would have a reasonable set of tools, angle grinder included.

Just to round this off. Smoothed the grooved teak toerail surface with a very sharp old Stanley smoothing plane. Did a great job except for one groove that I decided to only part remove in order to maintain the overall profile. Finished with 16mm stainless rubbing strake from sea screw. Comes in 3 metre lengths with screws for just over £60 delivered. Hand drilled small pilot holes to take the screws. Used a 12 inch hacksaw with a brand new bimetallic blade to cut it and oil to lubricate the cut. Cutting from the convex side was easier, the blade bit into the metal more easily than the other way. Dremel with small conical grindstone to deburr. Thanks as always for all the advice.
