Customs/ UKPA boardings

Pissing my money down the drain

Random Boardngs are simply an easy way of being able to claim to be "doing something", with the added bonus of not generating any more work downstream within the judicial system and being another HMG empire / employment scheme.

Deterrent? LOL! only in minds of the creators

Have to agree. Has anybody else here noticed how these guys predominately operate on the sunny south coast - illegals (people or substances) obviously don't cross the bumpy cold and grey North Sea.

If it cost several millions of pounds to stop each illegal via this random search method, then I say let them in.

Whilst on the subject: has anybody in the Boarders Agency noticed the UK has over a hundred completely unpatrolled land crossings with another soverign state. Your free to cross these border points anytime you like and the ROI are not flashing about in black rubber suits. I advise all you people traffickers to drop your charges via Cork or Waterford and they can then take a bus or train up to NI and the ferry across from Belfast or Larne. As soon as eBorders is implemented I propose to protest by getting all the British trailer sailers to trail unmolested to Carlingford then sail across to Warrenpoint repeatedly until UKBA are overwhelmed by the number of British boats making perfectly well documented one-way trips into the country.

The UKBA call this the 'CTA' - Common Travel Area - there's talk on their site of requiring folk travelling to and from the ROI to carry passports and be subject to immigration checks etc. Dunno how much 'progress' they've made with this one - apparently Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 is giving them some headaches.

I rather suspect the "headaches" are less related to the paperwork more the fact they don't want to meet any real ;) criminals.........

But to be fair :D if my job was also based around wearing a rubber Gimp suit whilst enjoying "Dirty Harry" / "Who Dares Wins" masturbatory fantasies I too would rather point my weapon ;) at these folks:-
