When you drive round suburbia these days no one seems to have nets or curtains. It's wall to wall blinds. We went for horizontal blinds which have worked out well for us.

There is a formula for Dutch homes’ street windows. There will be a line of net curtain across the top. Decorative items will be placed along the sill, and ornamental hanging/s suspend in the centre. The whole display can vary from the humblest to a virtual museum exhibit, which distract the passer-by from gawping at the family watching the TV inside.

If your windows are trapezoidal mount the blind at the base of the window and pull it up to close it.
