Thr Correio de Manha reports that fifteen pleasure boats have been booked by the P.M. for parking in the fishing boat harbour.

Were they boats or dinghies from the anchorage boats? Only asking cos I'll be back down there this week.

The paper didn't say but I imagine that they were big enough to have made life difficult for fishermen. Dinghies can easily park on the beach.

Don't know if it's the same occurrence but I've just heard from a friend that some boats have been booked down there for anchoring in the "fishing areas" and depriving the fishermen of their livelihood. Could be a different slant on the same story, who knows.

I would guess it's the same story, as you suggest. The marina was built a few years ago specifically for the fishermen and initially there were a few problems with dinghies being chained in fishing boat berths but most now either go on the beach or by the walkway bridge.
If the police are in the mood to raise money, make sure you have life jackets in tenders or that can attract a €250 fine for every occupant without one available - you don't have to wear them.

If Olhio Marina is now a reality, it could take the pressure off the Culatra Anchorage and the attraction of the Culatra Fishermans Harbour.
Where these offenders just 'booked' or fined? The PM often warn but unlike the GNR, do not always fine.

A bit breezy in culatra this afternoon. A few boats on the move�� we were lucky
got back on board before it got too rough. So far no movement, but then we are on a spade��

Whoops! Spoke too soon. Dinghy went adrift and thanks to tbe efforts of two boats it was rescued and returned safely to us. Note to self-must practice knots.��

Policia maritima just arrived at culatra harbour. Seem to be hassling pleasure/charter boats. Not really sure what is happening as we are out at anchor.

Here is an update. The outer pontoon at culatra harbour is closed to all traffic, both sides. Diving work in progress. MP attending from time to time to enforce.

There has been a notice on the outer pontoon for the last couple of seasons to say that visitors can use it. The guy in charge told people it was for a maximum three days. Trouble is...as always...there are certain boats/people who have to take the P and set up camp there as if they own it. Spoils it for everyone!

Just been a report on TV news about theft of seahorses from Ria Formosa, said to be a very serious problem. Evidently Spanish police found 2000 in a car they had stopped. Policia Maritima have planted cameras to try and catch the thieves so expect increased activity as one of the main areas where seahorses are is the anchorage at the east end of Culatra.
