Hello everybody ,
this is my first time posting , I was just wondering if anybody has any comments to make on our proposed trip to the Med on our profile 33 with my partner and our two children lasting approx 1 year . we are resonably experienced but have not spent this length of time together in such a confined space. Also I was wondering if anybody has any ideas on running a laptop on 12 Volts

My Toshiba 4600 laptop came with a car adaptor with a cigarette-lighter adaptor one end and the twin-pole plug into the charger unit the other end.

This works very well on board, as does e-mailing via a Nokia 6210.

If you have a good idea of your itinerary, it is worthwhile getting a list of local phone numbers to acces your ISP before departure, otherwise your ISP dials up your normal UK phone number in order to list nearest contact numbers - which generates a higher cost than logging on locally.

bon voyage,

Not a problem with your Laptop re 12 volt.... get a cigarette type adaptor.

The last with a name of Tubs, with respect, came from Portsmouth and was a very good sign writer in Fratton: Is that you?

Car adapter for the laptop, try www.fastmail.fm for your E mail, with a mobile phone, very fast service with outlook express and use a local server in portugal, no cost, only very cheap local mobile calls, in spain use movistar, local mobile phone company, they have there own isp, very cheap calls and even cheaper at night, again using www.fastmail.fm with outlook. This is the cheapest way I've found so far, and I've been looking a long time! As for the rest, go for it, the profile 33, I think would be an ideal platform for the med! See you in the Ballearics this summer?

a 500w inverter is now only £50, and could be a good answer to charging laptop / mobile phone / handheld etc.

Totally agree, they don't flatten the batteries too much either. A solar panel will keep up with one in the med. Nice to have a little bit of mains onboard for the odd thing or two.
