Just wondering if anyone knows some that are more comfortable to wear.

I notice that Crewsaver do a pair with double straps rather than a single strap.

My Crewsaver jacket has two straps. I can’t say that I’ve ever thought of them as a problem, at least in comparison to the thought of drowning, though I have to take care to fold away the extra lengths.

I found double straps would slip under my bum when sitting, making standing up difficult - I have a single now.

I do not like the 'factory' straps as Stemar hits the nail on the head ... they slide down the thighs when sitting ....

I made my own in the end that do not slide down - they stay same standing or sitting ....

Original rubbish strap :

My modification :

Only needs one strap but the point is that it comes from middle of back and under to clip at front ... not using side as the factory does ...

I’m very happy with my Spinlock double straps. Once fastened I don’t notice them until it is time to remove them.

There is a basic problem with these straps. I often think that if I did go to a boat show & get the chance to meet the main man of a manufacturer I would tell him so.
The way the strap is hooked to the horizontal strap at the back often causes the horizontal one to twist or double up. That causes a small lump in the back, which digs in when sitting against a flat surface. It can be painfull after an hour or so.
If one changes from wet trousers one finds that one minute the strap is tight, the next it is slack, requiring adjustment. This takes too long & can be fiddly on some makes.

I am not really into older wooden boats , but I have to admit that she she looks really good under sail to windward, in a breeze. I can vouch for that , having seen her going up the Blackwater a few years ago.
Likewise. I’m more into AWB’s but a well maintained wooden boat is a thing of beauty. But not for me!

I think my spinlocks have a single strap...

but anyway, the most important thing is to have easy access to the adjustment, so you can tighten it if you ever fall in.

i have worn mine in the water for safety training, and i definitely wanted the strap tighter than is comfortable to wear on deck.

you should be able just to reach down between your legs and pull the strap end to tighten it.
