If all goes to plan, I get the keys to my new (to me) boat this week or so.
I shall spend a few days around Jersey and Guernsey getting to know her a little better, and then blast back over the channel,

Any advice on first crossing....

Sea sickness tablets is the only bit of useful advice I can give you but good luck rob. Congrats on the new boat and enjoy. Don't forget to report back with a blow by blow account and some pics.

:)

I will do.
I'm hoping i can avoid the seasick tablets, after 15 years at sea, but, I will be buying some in case. Im sure 36 footer rolls a bit different to the 100 odd meter thing I'm normally on.
I am having the sea cocks swapped out, and a few other jobs to do first, but she is in fine fettle. just needs plenty of tlc in the interior.
I'm over the moon :D

Sounds great and will likewise look forward to pictures/write up... :D

I saw from a previous thread that you were looking, but sounds like you quickly found 'the one' - great news! Where will you be keeping her?

No experience on the channel crossing bit yet, but hope to do once I've got our 21' rebuilt. Our current 14' is probably a bit small for a Torquay to Jersey run given our limited experience so we'll have to be patient...

Boat is a 1987 sunseeker Rapallo.
She looks in fine form, and has been well looked after mechanically, just needs tidying up and TLC.
Not 100 percent yet where I am going to leave her, but eventually will find a way around to the Lincs coast line.

I'm suspecting from the 36' comment, that he found the Rapello he was 'seeking'... ;)

Spot on :D

I'm actually really pleased, as the advice I have received, and speaking to the pro's over in the channel islands has been first class, and well worth the visit.

Certainly made my mind up after speaking about about some of the slightly newer and heavier 40 footers

Did you go for the diesel one in Jersey? I searched around when you posted originally as I couldn't recall the Rapello and was curious :) Then I saw you post about a few days trekking around brokers etc and put two and two together - amazingly making four for once!

She looks a fab boat and I'm sure you'll be pleased. I wouldn't think the channel will be an issue provided you pick your weather window. Enjoy :D

Yes,
A pair of 330 sabres. I had forgotten how good those motors sound.
Ill be keeping my eye on the weather.

We're heading back to Dartmouth on wednesday from st.PP if yo want to join us. Winds are predicted to be very light and the sea state slight. Should be a good crossing.
We cruise at about 20knts.
If you're interested let me know.
Bernie

Many thanks for the offer. That would be great, but I will not be finished in Jersey till the week end at the earliest. But great idea, I may see if anyone else is about to follow back when I'm ready.
