so we are hoping to go through tomorrow ,first time heading from lock gilp we are coming from troon on a fly bridge can two of us do it easy ,not been before
 
it might be worth giving them a ring before you set off; there is a rumour that it has run out of water.

I think Paulieraw is confusing it with the Cally, the Crinan is very short of water and transit is restricted, as is entry and exit through the sealocks, it may close this weekend. You can get assistance, if you think you need it contact me.

Consider the mull of kintyre route if weather suits as canal is likely to be problematic for some time

If they have the water, it is perfectly doable by two fit/strong adults. But with two we prefer to get assistance from the experts, as can be quite hard work. Quandary and his friends do a great job.
 
Phone the Ardrishaig office directly and they will advise. Locking s one hour either side of HW, which at the Crinan end is 10.00am on Sat and 11.00 on Sunday.
 
Make sure you have fenders all around and at different heights as well. I have gone through the Crinan on yachts and flybridge mobo's and particularly on the mobo with the high topsides make it advisable to have two rows of fenders per side to protect your boat - one set at pontoon height with the other set at toerail height. If they are setup prior to transit then you or you crew will not have the problem of running about like a mad thing trying to fend off from hard objects determined to damage your boat. It is really easy to get your boat damaged either from the walls or other boats, especially yachts for some reason - unless I have been unlucky! It's also worth bearing in mind that if (like my last flybridge mobo) which would take off rapidly sideways in any sort of wind, there isn't a lot of wriggle room in the canal if things suddenly and without warning get a bit out of control. You have a stone walls a few feet away on either side of you, so again another reason to have loads of fenders.

As for the passage itself, you can do it with two people assuming at least one can climb vertical ladders and work the locks. It's a nice transit and probably best to take your time and enjoy it. Help is available, but as others have said it is probably worth a phone call prior to setting off just to make sure everything is ok for your passage. Personally i find the MOK a less stressful passage! Enjoy.
 
I once took a 28 foot sailing boat through with just my 2 sons for crew, they would have been about 10 and 7 at the time. It was hard work but also one of our best memories of the boat.

Wouldn’t say it would be easy with two on a flybridge. Did it recently on the old man’s P385. Easy with 3 and better with 4. Watch the tender of its on davits. If it’s busy, can be a squeeze and our wee tender nearly caught a gate. Think it’s well manned these days and they are helpful. Bit of a palaver and likely only worth it if the weather dictates not going round the mull
