Where is the best place to watch the festival from?

Will we be able to moor up in Cowes - or will it be too busy?

We've never been/seen it before and thinking of inviting some friends over and making it into an event, whilst watching all the fast boats.

So if anyone's got any advice that would be great!

well, there are lot of boats milling about, never mind the monsters. We had a good view just few hundred metres west of Cowes, as they turn the bouy. Just do as the marshalls say.. you dont want to be in the line of sight of one of those racers...

West Cowes marina was closed to the public last year as it formed the pits for the teams. We berthed up in East Cowes then crossed the river and watched the racing from the beach infront of the RORC. That's the plan for this year too

My lads are racing in 150 class and the best place we think to watch for the P1's is around what will be called "Number 3 Mark" at around: 50.45.72N 01.21.00W as you will see a good series of turns and be out of the "melee" up by the Sqaudron. For Hondas then simply move south east a bit around what will; be called "Honda Mark" at: 50.45.78N 01.19.75W where you will again see aggressive turns and the sequence of boats taking their pit laps.

Whatever you do keep well away from the race line as those things can "hook" real bad and come off line real fast, plus particularly the 225 hondas have had a bundle of flipovers this year and when they go they dont slow down much as they go over in a totally unknown direction normally. We marshalled last year, never again! Why people ever think that they are safe within 200yds of these things at full chat is a mystery to me but I got sick of moving people from right on the line as they had to get a photo "head on"!! The racers are ever mindful in Cowes of the spectator boats, and really appreciate the interest, but they are racing after all, and a whole season can depend on that dice they are having just at that moment and safety has to prevail so wayward spectators can spoil the event / spectacle for everyone.

Anyway hope you really enjoy the event and give a little cheer for the "QualityJob Youngsters" who will be trying to repeat or better their third in the last race!! Paul
