Our boating club has a fair proportion of vessels suitable/capable of nipping across to the other side, many as part of an annual organised club cruise or on ad hoc solo trips.
It has been a subject of discussion in the clubhouse , that Pre B**** you made sure the tanks were full , picked a weather forecast that you liked the look of , found your courtesy flag , turned the key and went.
Many experienced skippers have commented , they might like to go back across but the sheer faff of the protocols involved have ensured they simply will not bother again.
A favorite destination was always Holland, less than day away.
Club cruise plan this year is all to UK destinations, the only exception is to Dunkerque , mainly due to fact that RTYC are organising the event .

Last year, only two boats ventured abroad to France.

You can’t keep going on about brexit , it’s like my mate sell brand new Tesla’s for 20k . If you ask him about one his reply it’s gone , and local pub, free beer tomorrow , if you go in next day order a pint , ask is it free, reply tomorrow.

True - I was pointing out that some of the boats are at sensible prices in the EU.
However back to the Topic before it gets political.
Boats priced correctly will sell - boats over priced wont.

I know it’s only a sample of one but there was a recent thread on here (that got pulled) about my 2001 S37 which I sold a year ago for £95k which is now back on the market with the same broker in Lincoln for £90k
So, after presumably a little haggle, it shows a significant softening of the market. I don’t think it reflects a years depreciation on a 23 year old boat.

Yes I have missed this season but in a way it was good timing as this year has been absolutely manic in my working life, as I mentioned earlier and didn't have a great deal of time to commit to boating had I had a boat - my last boat sold last December.
But I am already seeing whether coincidence of the budget or not some boats entering the market at a priced to sell mark.

Unfortunately the much larger and more competitive market across the other side of Le Manche is now closed unless you are keen to fork out another 20% on the asking price.
On our last boat search the distance we travelled to look at a "Covid Markup" olde heap in Hartlepool could have taken us to several marinas in Holland and Belgium and France.
The trip to Hartlepool was not total waste of time, the main attraction appeared to be a statue of a French Monkey they hung as a spy.
Some folks might suggest this tells you all you need to know :)
The dive club at Hartlepool has some very interesting artifacts in their clubhouse including a gunnery computer from a WW1 cruiser
