What would be the approximate cost to refurbish 4 injectors from a Volvo D2 engine?
PS, I once stripped a set of injectors, soaked them in acetone for 24 hours, blew them clean and assembled them again, worked fine. I know they are supposed to be tightened to a specific torque but it worked.I was recommended to use Diesel Bob in Lancashire and posted my injectors of for him to check & clean. I cant remember how much it was buy certainly cheaper than a Diesel Specialist in Kendal that I could have used.
When they were ready I collected them and was impressed with his set up. (as an ex garage owner looking from a professional perspective)
You could always give them a ring.
(when I lived in France I had a boat with a 2.5l inboard Iveco Diesel (same engine as Iveco Daily Van) and found that there was a diesel specialist in Vannes and took the injectors there to be cleaned and tested. I was please to see the machine was a UK Lucas/Hartridge machine.
Many firms who say they are diesel specialists don have the specialist equipment.
Me too. Injectors are definitely on my "if it ain't broke..." list. If the engine starts and runs OK without excessive smoke, they're almost certainly fine. The best routine servicing for injectors is to use them and punch a tide once in a while - coming into Chichester under power against the ebb should do nicely to blow the cobwebs out.Must admit that I would leave them alone and put the fund towards the purchase of at least one new injector to have a spare for the trip. Getting injectors out can be a thankless task and I have never noticed much of an improvement post a service unless a a problem is apparent before.
If you Google you will find them around £50 part ex and around £300 for injector pump.Hi, had mine refurbished for £72 each earlier this year for Perkins M30,
I think he meant running flat out against the tide would mean the engine was working as hard as possible. As a thread drift, it makes no difference to the engine whether you are going with the tide or against it.
