Coronavirus and Greece

Greece is scary! This is Corfu Kalami. We never anchored here- too crowdy. Today we are the only one. One taverna open (white house closed).
Maybe twenty people in on the beach...

What is wrong with this world? With us?

I know that a good number of people in the marina here decided in April, when it was clear they weren't going to be allowed to leave any time soon, to take out a yearly contract rather than pay (the more expensive) month by month. A lot of those have decided to just scrap this season's cruising in favour of local sails, up to the Cyclades and back for example, since they have a paid for berth here.

Crete is a bit of a special case however, if you've not left by the time the Meltemi starts you're probably not leaving at all. :)

We've arrived at Erikoussa yesterday and moved to Korfu today. Paid our TEPAI online and printed out the confirmation that says "PAID" on it. There's various email addresses and forms being handed around on Facebook, but nothing official announced anywhere, so saw no reason to partake in that particular mess. The Passenger Locator Form (travel.gov.gr) still has no option for private vessels and we have no passengers aboard anyways. We have an IMO Annex 8 health declaration form pre-printed in case a Hellenic CG patrol wants to see one. We didn't visit any offices and don't plan to, as we paid TEPAI online and that's all we're required to do as EU boat with EU citizens aboard as far as I understand.

We keep daily body temperature records since Italy, as their (official) declaration required it (another handy use of our IR pistol thermometer).

Place is very quiet and empty. Two other boats were anchored at Erikoussa, couple in the harbour, saw one charter flag there. Handful of boats in Korfu bay today. Last year we were here around June 15 and had to weave our way through fleets of boats. Beaches have 2-5 people on them each, umbrellas and loungers present but mostly folded, hotels look empty, curtains drawn, no towels hanging out etc. Hardly any tourist trippers, just the odd small private motorboat with some meat grilling on the bow. Bit weird, but we certainly enjoy the lack of noise, charter boat shenanigans and jet skis!

@Yngmar

we are just passing Garitsas bay, heading to Petriti.
Really empty. We stopped at Gouvia (needed new battery). Not many people, but many boats tied up...

Petriti 5 boats... Usually 30, 40

Desifection in progress...

Just got back from an overnight trip, down to Gaios.
I reckon it was about 3/4 full and on the trip back today, passed loads of boats, making their way to Lakka/Gaios/Mourtos.
Funnily enough, hardly no British Flags.

In the Poros area very busy with yachts. Yesterday a cat with at least 10 people on board anchored about 5 meter in front of me. No masks.

Shopping : masks are very rare, some old folks wear masks. Staff in supermarkets wear masks over their chin. I visited the Coast guard : no masks.

Buying masks : dont know, I bought mine in January and later made myself.

Island people think wearing a mask is idiot. No one has Corona. Until now.

Shops all have mask signs , the one time I forgotten my , I tho I had one in my backpack , I was ask to leave the shop .

Bays anchorages seas been pretty empty , weekend there been plenty of small day boats , not seen one charter boat, very few multi million dollars GP which innthis part is well known for, very few about ,
only yacht about have been France and the odd Italian, no British or any less nomBritish flaged .
But as July rolls on I expecting to see many more yachts .
Let all hope we won't get it again this winter, although there a very high chance we not seen the end of it .
