Coribbee MKI , is it a classic

She's been stuck on the market awhile now (more than a year, I think). Lovely looking boat but makes you wonder if there's something wrong, either with her or with the price. Not for me (I only do plastic cheapo's) but might be worth a silly offer, the owner must be getting tired of waiting.

Don't think they tend use wooden ones though, too many splinters /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I didn't know they came so big, always though of 'em as pocket plastic jobbies. Does sure look pretty though.

The earliest ones were wood, but you have a point on the size, I don't think Mk 1's were ever 26' LOA. In fact the closer I look at her the less I think she is a Mk.1 - just very similar, perhaps someone had a go at building a 'stretched' version...

Yes, thats one of the early Mk1 Clinker Corribees. Only a handful were built like this, and the Owners Association site describes them as "rare and beautiful". And they are not 26ft long - somebody ought to tell the broker to get a new non elastic measure! The GRP version hull was moulded to the same lines as the original clinker hulls.

But theres a simple reason she is still on the market: - she is way over priced. £2 -3,000 would be more realistic.

Thanks - if you are sure I will leave the broker alone...I checked it out against the photo's on the Owners Association webesite and noted a few differences, e.g. the absence of the porthole/window on the forward side of the coach roof.

Is she really a corribee ? maybe redecked & with a new lowered cabin top ? Not much of a keel either, upwind work will be likely be a bit ponderous.

One for sleuths methinks but I bet she's a copy of some sort. & only 20' not 26'.

The grp Mk 2's are very pretty in my eye, & with a good paint scheme & decent set of sails are as good a useable 'classic' with decent performance as many would wish for(fin keel that is). & only for a couple of G's.

Think Ford corsair, maybe Mk1 1300 capri in car terms ?

I've spoken to the brokers and although I'll leave the full response to him , apparently this one was already on their books when they took over , so can't blame them for any discrepancies I reckon , but he'll take a look when he gets a chance

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We only took over the business is September last year and this is one of the listings we inheritied. In light of the useful input from forumites i will speak to the owner who is likely to have proivded the information originally and if necessary get out a tape measure and check the nature of construction.

Thanks for flagging this up to us.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes: look at the photos 'extra 2' and 'extra 3' - she carries the Corribee sail mark. The wooden ones did have a different coachroof arrangement to the later GRP Mk1, but only the Coromandel (the junk rigged Corribee) had the porthole.

All 3 wooden ones listed on the COA site have drop keels, which explains the apparently shallow draft of this one.
