What does the panel think of the unusual <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.rodriquez.it/conam/75widebody.php>Conam Widebody 75</A> (Quick Spin - P50 MBY Jan '05)? I've never seen such an unusual layout - kindof like a super-tall and wide sports boat giving bags of volume. Seems pretty quick for its bulk too, although Rodriguez quote a max speed of 30 knots but MBY quote just 25. I'm guessing the manufacturer's are right.

Personally I like it. Not the last word in detailed finishes but big entertaining areas and relatively good value. It's good to see a bit of individualism in motor yacht design.

Top section I like, bottom half is ok, but not special, it's the two halfs together that I have not come to terms with yet.
Have a feeling the top belongs to a sport planning hull, but the hull belongs to a Trader. It's matching the two together that I'm not sure off.
Inside looks ok.

I know what it reminds me of, one of those trailer tents you tow behind the car, and the lids part way up.

Aesthetically it's poo. But I suppose the photograph could have been taken from a wrong angle. No idea how it rides or handles tho. Widely speaking, I suppose guys prefer function over form; whereas most girlies prefer looks.

As for me ........ I have to have both !!

Aesthetically I quite like it, but it looks very hard to see forward out of and that radar arch is the ultimate in Max Power naffness. But then I really like Botnia Targas. . . . /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I think is looks quite good, a little odd is some areas especialy the radar arch but I wonder what it will look like in 5 years, could look very naff.

For the record I would still quite like one Santa.

That's interesting...why would you assume the manufacturer's figures are correct, and our test figures were wrong?

Because they designed and made the boat?

Just re-read the test summary and it appears your results were taken from an actual sea test. In which case there's something wrong somewhere. We know all manufacturers are a little optimistic, but claiming 34 knots and achieving 25 is terrible.

I almost liked it. I mean they have to risk ugliness outside to get the interior volume gain, and that's a compromise the buyer wanting a w/body has to accept, but given a w/body configuration as a starting constriant that they had to work within I think they did a good job on the aesthetics. They rely heavily on the horizontal black/white stripe effect to keep the looks ok, but that's fine

I'd say it's the best looking w/body around. Compare with say those uglyish (imho) looking Barons:

<IMG SRC="http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=394&stc=1[/image]

or silverton:

It was shame MBY didn't shoe more interior shots, esp the saloon...

Interesting you think it is revolutionary, when I first saw it I though that it looked like a boat designed by Committee. Bow is closest to a 'Dolphin' I have ever seen . Have another look at the first photo from sea level. The basic design is a bit 'San Lorenzo' , The Managusta boys were allowed to do the Fly bridge, Leopard the kitchen and the interior is very .. Italian ?

Pricing seems very keen for any Italian let alone Rodriguez Group ( I assume it is same company ?)

At end of the day I look at it and wonder where and what you hang the fenders from ???

no no I meant it :). All those w/body jobs hang fenders with long strings from the side rails - no other choice. This does cause the fenders to pendulum about, somewhat

Oops,, yes ... new meaning to rolling fenders .. especially as different lengths / heights?

Also should make lovely mess of tosides gelcoat with them hanging so far away from flybridge rails and not 'vertical'

Actually comparing the dimensions with others, the Conam 75 is more of a Highbody than a Widebody. 15cm or less beamier than a Princess 23m or Squadron 74, both of which are shorter.

Interesting. As mby said, it may be a pig at anchor, and the 15cm less beam makes that more a worry. Surely this type of boat needs anchor stabilisation, eg one of those things that ferretti are now offering

Um, you said 30 knots not 34? Either of those sounds a bit optimistic. Wide beam towards 6m and almost 50 tonnes of weight would mean somewhat less than 30 knots tops imho. Also, if it's in the med it'll have barnacles, so sometime soon it'll be down to 22knots...
