The bilge pump under the lazerette seems to trip the fuse as soon as it should operate via the float switch. It also seems to do the same when switched from the dash. I am presume that it is the pump rather than the switch but unsure as to what to do to repair it.

Ideas appreciated

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick. Make sure impellor is not jammed with floatsam, and turns freely. You will probably find it is stuck / seized. If stuck, try and free it. if seized........."Get your wallet out for a new one" time.

Hi,
could be several things try these:-
1/pump siezed throgh lack of use....give it a turnover byhand if poss,ie turn impeller.
2/pump clogged with debris....clean it out.
3/motor had it...replace
4/water in where it shouldn,t be...reseal or replace parts if poss
sorry if i,am trying to teach you to suck eggs, just some simple suggestions

Further thought : Is the fuse the correct rating? These pumps can take quite a high current especially when starting and even more so after standing idle and getting a bit stiff.
