\'Compass\' offshore 2 part set

Has anyone bought the Compass Watersports 2 part set (jacket & trousers) on offer currently at £79.95.

Are they good value or its it better to pay more.

My sailing is in coastal waters - & I just need something for when I'm out & it chucks it down. I.e not looking to spend alot / don't need gear that will be worn all the time.

Re: \'Compass\' offshore 2 part set

I bought the offshore kit when it was a 3 part set, and it seems fine. I've been out in wet and cold and it kept me going OK.

You need a scarf or something like that as well, cause water kept p***ing down my neck, and I also find that the cap (hood) doesn't stay particularly well horizontally aligned (keeps falling down in front of my eyes). But with another stiffer peaked cap underneath works fine.

I must admit that normally I would be a person who buys brand names (SWMBO got a Gill), this time financial constraints meant I couldn't afford £400 for oilies but I can't tell much difference. Yes it will probably fall apart sooner, and I've only done a cross-channel over night in rain and a force 5, the Southern Ocean might seem a bit daunting for it, but for the money, go for it.

Had mine now for three years. only fault I can find is the lining,
pulls apart at the seams, found the hood pretty good myself as it can
be pulled forward to cover your whole head in heavy rain,Ideal when
your off watch etc. Buy a larger size as they are not very warm and
you will need a body warmer, Surprising how little use they actually get
even though I spend most of the summers sailing! hope this helps.

Re: \'Compass\' offshore 2 part set

A friend of mine bought a set 2 or 3 yrs ago and they were fine until this year when trousers started to let in water. He sent them back and they replaced them FOC with no arguement. That seems pretty fair to me.
They do seem to be excellent value for money and won the Best Value award in a Sailing Today comparative test a year or so ago.

Can't be such bad value at that money, an alternative could be Gill, we bought a two part set two years ago for £99 and it has been fine and still looks like new.
